Unicorn India Ventures launches US operations
Mumbai-based deep-tech venture capital firm Unicorn India Ventures (UIV) has announced the launch of its operations in the United States. To lead this expansion, the firm has appointed former Google executive Kishore Kanakamedala as a Venture Partner.
The strategic move aims to create a bridge between the Indian and American technology ecosystems, specifically helping UIV’s portfolio companies enter the US market and advance their technology readiness levels. Under Kanakamedala’s leadership, the firm intends to build a team of mid-to-senior-level operator-investors to support international expansion and develop an investor community for Indian deep-tech startups.
This expansion follows the recent first close of the IIT Madras-Unicorn Frontier Fund I at ₹450 crore, which saw significant interest from US-based investors. Bhaskar Majumdar, Founder and Managing Partner of UIV, noted that the US launch is a logical step following the closure of the firm’s third fund of ₹1,200 crore earlier this year.
