UniCredit partners with Accenture and IBM on European banking platform

UniCredit has launched a long‑term strategic partnership with Accenture and IBM to build a new European banking platform. The programme will span the group’s 13 markets, integrating core banking systems with cloud, data and artificial‑intelligence capabilities while retaining central‑system resilience. Accenture will acquire IBM’s majority stake in the joint venture that currently manages a significant portion of UniCredit’s technology infrastructure, and IBM will continue to supply platforms, software and consulting services, including its IBM Z solutions. The collaboration also aims to expand responsible AI use across the group. Ali Khan, UniCredit’s Group Digital & Information Officer, said the project will strengthen competitiveness and accelerate innovation. Completion of the deal is subject to regulatory approvals and standard closing conditions.
