UniCredit seeks technology partner for digital asset and crypto services
UniCredit, Italy’s second-largest bank, is reportedly seeking a technological partner to build infrastructure for digital asset services. According to reports from Bloomberg, the Milan-based institution is exploring a wide range of services, including cryptocurrency custody for assets such as Ethereum, brokerage functions, and tokenized investment products.
The bank is also considering blockchain-based fixed-income securities and the use of stablecoins. Rather than building the infrastructure from scratch, UniCredit is looking for a specialized provider to manage the technical complexities of storing private keys and reducing operational risks.
This move follows previous digital initiatives by the bank, such as its participation in the Qivalis consortium—a group of 37 European banks working on a euro-denominated stablecoin—and the offering of structured products linked to Bitcoin ETFs to professional clients.
