Unidade Local de Saúde do Alto Ave receives European medical distinctions

The Unidade Local de Saúde do Alto Ave (ULSAAVE) has achieved significant recognition in the medical field. The institution has joined the European Society of Hypertension’s network of excellence, a distinction that acknowledges its specialized units dedicated to hypertension and cardiometabolic risk.

Additionally, ULSAAVE’s Urology Service was featured at the ERUS 2026 (European Robotic Urology Section) forum. The team presented nine scientific papers regarding robotic surgery applied to urological diseases, including oncological treatments. Two of these studies resulted from an international collaboration with the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico in Rome, Italy. The research focuses on optimizing oncological and functional outcomes in prostate and kidney surgeries to ensure greater patient safety and faster recovery.
