Unidade Popular candidates announce bids for Distrito Federal offices

Candidates from the Unidade Popular (UP) party have announced their bids for office in the Distrito Federal for the 2026 elections. Samara Mineiro Oliveira, a geography teacher and public school educator, is running for Governor of the Distrito Federal with Thais Oliveira as her vice-gubernatorial candidate.

Guilherme Amorim is running for the Federal Senate representing the Distrito Federal. Amorim has proposed several policy stances, including the popular election of Supreme Federal Court (STF) justices to increase social diversity and combat the prevalence of white male representation. He also advocates for auditing the public debt as a solution to fiscal deficits rather than implementing social security reforms, and has criticized the allocation of parliamentary amendments.
