Unidentified bodies recovered from rivers in Veracruz and Michoacán
Authorities in Mexico have recovered two unidentified male bodies from different water bodies in recent days.
In Papantla, Veracruz, security and rescue forces located the body of a man, approximately 40 years old, floating in the Tecolutla River near the El Remolino bridges. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition. Investigators are considering whether the river current carried the individual from upstream communities such as La Isla or Paso del Correo, as no local missing persons reports have been filed.
In Uruapan, Michoacán, workers at a CFE hydroelectric plant in Zumpimito discovered a man's body floating in the dam. It is suspected the body was carried there by the Cupatitzio River. Local authorities and forensic services have taken custody of the remains to determine the cause of death and establish the victim's identity.
