Unidos do Cacém protests interrupted futsal match over security absence
A futsal match between Estoril Praia and Clube Unidos do Cacém (CUC) in the II Divisão Distrital was interrupted during the first half due to a lack of security personnel. The match, held at the Complexo Desportivo de Alcabideche, was halted by officials 25 minutes in because neither police officers nor sports venue assistants (ARD) were present.
Unidos do Cacém has filed a formal protest with the Lisbon Football Association (AFL). The club noted that regulations require the visiting team to request policing, and if unavailable, at least three venue assistants must be present. The club reported that these conditions were not met and that they received no prior notice regarding the security situation.
According to the club, the interruption followed several tense incidents, including the consumption of alcohol in the stands, beverages being thrown at players, and spectators entering the pitch. The match was never resumed and remains listed as ‘Interrupted’ on the official results platform.
