Unidos por Lanzarote questions use of CACT funds for Galician festivities

Laureano Álvarez, leader of Unidos por Lanzarote (UPL), has raised concerns regarding the alleged use of public funds by the Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo (CACT). UPL claims that CACT resources may have been diverted to fund festivities in O Carballiño, a municipality in Galicia, which is the hometown of CACT CEO Ángel Vázquez.

According to internal rumors cited by UPL, the investment in the Galician festivities could be close to 250,000 euros, a figure that may exceed the amount spent on patron saint festivals in various Lanzarote municipalities. The political group is demanding full transparency, requesting the publication of the complete administrative file and specific data regarding these expenditures.

UPL has also questioned whether Ángel Vázquez receives travel allowances (dietas) from CACT for trips to his hometown. The group argues that public funds from Lanzarote should be prioritized for local tourism promotion and cultural activities within the island to serve the general interest of its citizens.
