Unifor and General Motors reach tentative labor agreements
Unifor and General Motors have reached tentative labor agreements representing more than 4,600 autoworkers in Ontario. The deals are expected to provide substantial increases in wages and benefits for employees.
The agreements cover several key facilities, including the Oshawa Assembly Plant, the CAMI Assembly Plant in Ingersoll, the St. Catharines Propulsion Plant, and the Woodstock Parts Distribution Centre. Unifor leadership noted that the terms align with the pattern established in a recent collective agreement with Ford Motor Company.
Negotiations between the union and GM Canada began on August 10. The tentative deals must now undergo a ratification process, with meetings for union members scheduled for August 29 and 30.
