Unigrejas investigated for R$ 7.78 million in atypical financial movements

The National Union of Churches and Pastors (Unigrejas) is under investigation by the Federal Police following reports from the Council for Financial Activities Control (Coaf) regarding atypical financial movements. Between October 2025 and April 2026, the entity moved approximately R$ 7.78 million. Of the more than R$ 1 million in dispersed bank deposits, roughly R$ 928,000 was made in cash.

Supreme Court Justice Flávio Dino authorized the warrants for 'Operação Make Up' as part of an inquiry into the financing of the film 'Dark Horse', a biopic about Jair Bolsonaro. The investigation is examining the potential redirection of public funds from parliamentary amendments to NGOs and production companies.

Financial flows identified include transfers from businesswoman Karina Ferreira da Gama and the Instituto Conhecer Brasil (ICB) to Unigrejas. Additionally, Unigrejas made payments to religious organizations, including R$ 157,800 to the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and R$ 150,000 to the Nova Igreja Evangélica Holiness Shalom.
