Uniguajira students win awards in international mechanical design contest

Mechanical engineering students from the Universidad de La Guajira achieved high rankings in the international ROCC CAD WAR 2026 competition. Ángel Daniel Leguia Sierra secured second place, while Daimer Javier Valencia Nieto earned fourth place.

The contest involved 55 participants from Colombia, Mexico, and Peru, focusing on computer-aided design (CAD) and three-dimensional modeling. Using SolidWorks software, competitors were evaluated on model precision, execution time, and technical knowledge. The competition was organized with collaboration from the Centro de Investigación en Ingeniería Mecánica (CIIM), the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (UNI) in Peru.

The Uniguajira delegation attended the event following an invitation from Universidad Continental in Peru, an institution with which the university maintains an academic cooperation agreement.
