Unilever undergoes strategic restructuring and climate transition

Unilever is executing a strategic restructuring to focus on personal care, beauty, and home care. As part of this shift, the company plans to spin off its ice cream business in December 2025 and has agreed to sell its food division to McCormick, with the deal expected to close by mid-2027. The goal is to build a higher-quality portfolio with faster growth and higher margins.

Regarding its environmental goals, Unilever reported a 77% reduction in operational greenhouse gas emissions from its own and leased sites—including factories, offices, and R&D centers—compared to 2015 levels. This progress is part of its Climate Transition Action Plan, which aims for a 100% reduction in these emissions by 2030 through energy efficiency, renewable energy, and supply chain collaboration.

Looking ahead to financial results, analysts are monitoring Unilever’s ability to protect gross margins through potential price increases in the second half of 2026 to offset rising raw material costs. There is also uncertainty regarding inventory levels in North American distribution channels following the second quarter of 2026.
