Unimed Porto Alegre and Grupo Pessi announce healthcare expansion in Capão da Canoa

Unimed Porto Alegre and Grupo Pessi have announced a partnership to expand healthcare services in the North Coast region of Rio Grande do Sul. The collaboration includes the installation of a new service unit at the Markho Life Complex in Capão da Canoa, projected to open in 2026.

The new unit will span 1,000 square meters and feature an oncology center, a diagnostic center with laboratory and imaging services, and medical offices. This expansion aims to provide local oncology treatments, reducing the need for patients to travel to other regions.

Additionally, the partners are working to structure a high-complexity hospital within the same development, which is expected to begin operations in 2029. The hospital is planned to include 180 inpatient beds, a neonatal ICU, and 11 surgical rooms. It is intended to serve both private health insurance patients and those using the Unified Health System (SUS) through future agreements with state and municipal governments.
