Unimicron faces search and seizure by Taiwanese prosecutors

Unimicron, a major manufacturer of ABF substrates, underwent a search and seizure operation at its Hejiang plant in Zhongli by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office and the Investigation Bureau. Authorities reportedly detained two vice presidents, one accountant, and several engineers for questioning, while seizing four laptops and various key documents.

The company issued a major announcement stating it is cooperating fully with the investigation to clarify the facts. Unimicron emphasized that its current operations remain normal and that the incident should not have a significant impact on its overall finances or business operations.

The investigation involves alleged violations of crimes against agriculture, industry, and commerce. While specific charges such as breach of trust, embezzlement, insider trading, or money laundering have not been confirmed by prosecutors, market speculation has suggested potential issues regarding fraudulent accounting or the mislabeling of product origins to circumvent tariffs. The Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office stated that the investigation is ongoing and further questioning of personnel may occur.
