UNIMMA introduces papaya processing to boost Wringinputih Village economy

A community service team from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (UNIMMA), led by Nur Laila Yuliani, has introduced papaya processing innovations to support economic independence in Wringinputih Village, Magelang Regency.

In collaboration with Universitas Boyolali (UBY), the program focuses on developing high-value products from young papaya and rejected fruit. This initiative aims to mitigate the price drops farmers face during peak harvest seasons when an abundance of fresh fruit typically lowers market value.

The project, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, seeks to create new business opportunities for villagers. Local officials noted the importance of the program, as Wringinputih is among the villages with high poverty rates in the Magelang Regency.
