Unión Agrícola de Avellaneda evaluates developing its own port

The Unión Agrícola de Avellaneda (UAA) is evaluating plans to develop its own port on the UpRiver of Gran Rosario to facilitate international trade. The cooperative, which recently celebrated its 107th anniversary, is currently ranked as the tenth largest grain exporter in Argentina, having exported 830,000 tons in the first half of 2026, according to the Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario.

UAA President Leandro Nardelli stated that while the business decision to seek an independent maritime outlet has been made, the project is still in the evaluation stage with no fixed timeline or location. The initiative is intended to be carried out through an associative model to strengthen ties with producers and exporters of grains and oilseeds.

Beyond grain exports, the cooperative maintains a significant territorial presence in the Santa Fe, Chaco, Santiago del Estero, and Salta provinces. Its operations include cotton ginning, supermarkets, service stations, and construction supply, aiming to provide ongoing service to regional agricultural producers.
