Unión La Calera fails to overturn six-point deduction at CAS
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected an appeal by Unión La Calera, upholding a sanction that strips the club of six points in the Chilean Primera División.
The penalty, originally issued by the ANFP Discipline Tribunal, stems from the club fielding an unauthorized sixth foreign player, Axel Encinas, in matches against Everton and Cobresal. As a result of the ruling, the points earned in those matches will remain with Everton and Cobresal respectively.
Unión La Calera currently sits at the bottom of the league table with 17 points after 23 matches. With only seven rounds remaining in the competition, the club faces a significant challenge in avoiding relegation.
