Unión Obrera Metalúrgica rejects wage proposals in Río Grande

The Unión Obrera Metalúrgica (UOM) held an extraordinary assembly in Río Grande to address declining purchasing power and ongoing industrial conflicts. Union leadership and delegates approved an action plan to protect jobs and push for wage negotiations with business chambers.

The union issued a formal statement expressing “unconditional support and solidarity” for workers at the Mirgor industrial group, specifically addressing instances of job instability and alleged interference with union representation.

Additionally, the assembly rejected a wage proposal from Afarte, describing it as “provocative.” The union has set a deadline for executives from the involved companies to meet and debate collective bargaining terms.
