Unión opposition requests urgent audit amid financial crisis

The opposition group Encuentro Unionista has formally requested an urgent intervention by the Accounts Review Commission to investigate the institutional and financial status of the Unión club. The request follows a lack of response from the Board of Directors regarding a previous information request made in July.

According to documentation attributed to the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA), the club has accumulated 44 rejected checks totaling over $700 million pesos. While approximately $61.9 million has been regularized, the group reported an additional 21 checks rejected due to insufficient funds between August 25 and 27. Furthermore, the club's total debt in the financial system is reported at $1,840,315,000, leading Banco Macro to categorize the institution under 'Situation 2' for special monitoring.

The opposition is also seeking an investigation into potential fund movements between the club and its Board of Directors. They have requested a review of payments, withdrawals, advances, reimbursements, and loans involving the president or other executives to ensure all transactions align with official meeting minutes and supporting documentation.
