União Brasil and PP suggest names for Lula administration

The União Progressista federation, composed of the União Brasil and Progressistas (PP) parties, has submitted a list of parliamentary names to the Palácio do Planalto for potential inclusion in Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s fourth government term, beginning in 2027.

União Brasil has proposed federal deputies Moses Rodrigues of Ceará and Pedro Lucas Fernandes of Maranhão. Fernandes previously declined an invitation to lead the Ministry of Communications in 2025.

The PP has suggested Senator Daniella Ribeiro of Paraíba. The party seeks a high-profile ministry for Ribeiro, moving away from the role previously held by André Fufuca, who is expected to transition to the Senate in 2026. Ribeiro maintains significant political influence in Paraíba through her family connections, including Governor Lucas Ribeiro and Deputy Aguinaldo Ribeiro.

These movements represent an effort by the federation to expand its influence within the ministries and strengthen political ties with the current administration ahead of the next term.
