União de Maricá secures promotion to Grupo Especial

The samba school União de Maricá has officially concluded its championship cycle and secured its place in the Grupo Especial. The transition was marked by a symbolic ceremony where the school's pavilion was delivered to a character representing Darcy Ribeiro.

The school's winning performance, ‘Berenguendéns, Balangandãs’, celebrated its 12-year history through a musical repertoire that included references to previous successful themes such as ‘Eu Sigo Nordestino’ and ‘100Sacional! Um Maxixetico e Rebolativo Baile’. Artistic director Kellyn Rosa noted that the show was developed over three months to highlight the school's evolution and its upcoming new stage in the competition.
