Union Berlin finds defensive stability under Lustrinelli

1. FC Union Berlin is seeing improved defensive stability under manager Mauro Lustrinelli, following a recent 0-0 draw against Borussia Dortmund and a 1-0 victory over Elversberg. Lustrinelli has successfully implemented a tactical shift focused on pressing and compactness, which has resulted in the team securing four points from their last two matches.

This defensive success is largely attributed to the partnership of center-backs Felix Uduokhai and Zeno van den Bosch. Their cohesion has allowed the team to maintain better organization and intensity. However, this tactical preference has relegated Leopold Querfeld, the club’s most valuable player, to the bench. Despite contributing goals and assists earlier in the season, the 22-year-old Austrian defender has not seen playing time in recent matches, including the full 90 minutes against Dortmund and the match against Elversberg.
