Union Berlin signs Ivorian striker Emmanuel Latte Lath on loan from Atlanta United
Union Berlin have completed a season‑long loan for Ivorian forward Emmanuel Latte Lath from MLS side Atlanta United for the 2026‑27 campaign. The deal includes an option for Union to purchase the player outright, with the German club taking on his full salary, reported at about €2.8 million per year.
Latte Lath, 27, joined Atlanta United in 2025 after a spell at Middlesbrough and a record‑breaking $22 million transfer fee for the MLS club. He recorded 11 goals and four assists in 48 matches for Atlanta, which currently sits at the bottom of the MLS table. Union Berlin, seeking a consistent Bundesliga scorer, announced the signing as their first offensive acquisition under new coach Mauro Lustrinelli.
Atlanta United’s chief soccer officer Chris Henderson said, “After discussions with Manu, we felt this move was the right opportunity for everyone involved.” Union’s sporting director Horst Heldt added that Latte Lath’s speed, robustness and reaction to second balls fit the club’s profile.
