Puducherry Police receive President’s Police Colour from Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the prestigious 'President’s Police Colour' to the Puducherry Police in a ceremony held at the Gorimedu Police Training Ground. The award, also known as the 'Nishaan', is the highest honor for a police force, recognizing distinguished service and professional excellence. Shah noted that despite having fewer than 5,000 personnel, the force has shown exceptional dedication, bravery, and service, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his visit to the Union Territory, Shah also participated in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra' to promote national unity and patriotism ahead of Independence Day. Additionally, he addressed the shift in the national legal framework, stating that the three new criminal laws—the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam—are built on the pillars of "technology, timeline and trust" to ensure a more efficient and citizen-centric justice system.

Prior to arriving in Puducherry, the Home Minister visited Tamil Nadu, where he offered prayers at the Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple and visited the Sri Ramana Maharshi Ashram in Tiruvannamalai.
