Union Marocaine du Travail hosts book presentation in Agadir
The Union Marocaine du Travail (UMT) in Agadir hosted a cultural and unionist event on October 17, 2026, to present and sign the book ‘Al-Madd al-Jamahiri’ (The Popular Tide) by author and union activist Abdelkhalek Hamdouchi.
The event, organized by the regional and provincial branches of the UMT for Agadir and the Souss-Massa region, focused on documenting the history of union, political, and associative struggles in the city of Larache. Participants discussed the importance of preserving the memory of the Moroccan union movement and transferring these experiences to new generations.
Houssein Boulberj, the regional secretary of the UMT, emphasized that educating activists and documenting personal and collective experiences is a vital part of union work to ensure that significant historical pages are not lost to oral memory alone. Researcher and journalist Hassan Bakrim provided an analysis of the book’s contents, exploring its intellectual, social, and unionist themes.
