Union of Communes Amiata Grossetana launches 100,000‑euro watercourse cleaning program

The Union of Communes Amiata Grossetana, operating under a convention with Consorzio di Bonifica 6 Toscana Sud, will carry out annual maintenance of minor watercourses in the Amiata Grossetana area from 2025 to 2027. Each year it will allocate €100,000 and use its own staff and equipment to clear vegetation, clean channels, re‑profile riverbeds and remove debris that could hinder water flow, especially during intense rainfalls.

Recent work was completed on watercourses in the municipality of Semproniano near the frazione of Petricci and in Castel del Piano at Montegiovi, along the Fossato ditch and its tributaries. Jacopo Marini, mayor of Arcidosso and forestry delegate in the Union’s council, stressed that maintaining the minor hydraulic network is essential for safe runoff and for protecting local communities and the environment. The program also alleviates the workload of the Bonifica consortium.
