Union of Greens and Farmers faces potential exit from Saeima

Exit polls from the Latvian parliamentary elections suggest the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS) may have failed to reach the 5% threshold required to enter the Saeima. Preliminary data indicates the party could have received approximately 3.7% of the vote.

ZZS leadership expressed cautious optimism, stating that official results from the Central Election Commission may differ from exit polls. Party chairman Armands Krauze noted that previous elections saw actual results exceed exit polls by roughly 1.5 percentage points. He also suggested that political scandals involving competitors may have influenced voter behavior.

Viktors Valainis, the ZZS prime ministerial candidate and current Minister of Economics, acknowledged the low poll numbers, attributing them to a difficult political cycle and various shocks. Meanwhile, exit polls indicate the United List (AS) is a clear winner with approximately 35.6% of the vote. Other parties expected to cross the 5% threshold include Latvia First, The Progressives, Sovereign Power/Young Latvians, National Alliance, and New Unity.
