Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia celebrates 80th anniversary
The Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) celebrated its 80th anniversary with a formal session, marking eight decades of representing worker interests and participating in social dialogue within the country.
During the ceremony, SSM President Slobodan Trendafilov emphasized the organization's commitment to improving living standards and worker rights. He referenced the mandate from the union's first congress in 1946, stating that “the worker must have an organized voice to defend social justice and dignity.”
The event brought together current leadership, branch union representatives, and former presidents to reflect on the history of labor organizing in Macedonia and the ongoing challenges regarding wages, workplace safety, and dignified employment.
