Union Pacific Engine 844 to join Big Boy 4014 for historic excursion

Union Pacific has announced that its historic Engine 844 steam locomotive will participate in a special public excursion on November 21. The 1944 Northern-class engine will travel from Greeley to Denver alongside the Big Boy 4014 locomotive.

This event marks the first time these two locomotives have operated together in a public excursion since 2019. The excursion serves a charitable purpose, as all proceeds from the ticketed event will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Engine 844, built during World War II, was designed for high-speed passenger service. The upcoming journey follows a continental tour by the Big Boy 4014, which recently visited 14 states as part of celebrations for the United States' 250th anniversary.
