Union Saint-Gilloise strengthens squad with Romanian midfielder Olaru and signs free‑transfer defender Chibani

Union Saint‑Gilloise, the most active Belgian club on the transfer market, is negotiating the signing of 28‑year‑old Romanian international midfielder Darius Olaru. Olaru recorded 15 goals and 8 assists in 51 matches for FCSB and has been linked with KRC Genk. Union has tabled a €2.3 million offer that may be raised after earlier bids from Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands were turned down.

The club also completed the free‑transfer signing of French‑Algerian centre‑back Nohim Chibani after his contract with French Ligue 3 side Aubagne FC expired. Chibani made 19 appearances for Aubagne. In the same period, defender Christian Burgess left Union on a free transfer.
