Union Saint‑Gilloise Holds Preseason Camp in Venray and Plots Player Moves
Union Saint‑Gilloise is conducting its preseason training camp in Venray, a town in Dutch Limburg near the Dutch‑German border. Coach David Hubert said the camp is focused on building team automatism and accelerating the integration of new signings, including defenders Nikki Havenaar and Nohim Chibani, midfielders Ondrej Kricfalusi and Darius Olaru, and forwards Ilan Hurtevent and South African winger Relebohile Mofokeng. A photo of Mofokeng carrying teammate Louis Patris sparked a wave of comments from the club’s South African fan community on social media.
Despite the upbeat atmosphere, several players are expected to leave. Anan Khalaili remains the most talked‑about case after a missed medical at Inter. Coach Hubert also confirmed that midfielder Marc Giger and striker Mamadou Barry are being searched for new clubs, with Barry possibly heading out on loan after Union spent €2.55 million on his acquisition a year and a half ago.
