Union SG ranked fourth favorite to win Europa League by Opta

Data firm Opta has released supercomputer predictions for the Europa League, placing Belgian club Union SG as the fourth favorite to win the tournament. Union SG holds an 8.6% chance of victory, trailing only Bournemouth (14.3%), Benfica (14%), and Bayer Leverkusen (10.2%). The model also estimates an 80.3% probability that the club will reach the round of 16 and a 50.7% chance of reaching the quarterfinals.

Union SG CEO Philippe Bormans reacted to the statistics by noting that while the figures are a compliment to the players and the club's recent progress, the team must remain grounded. He emphasized the need to focus on the upcoming League Phase, starting with an away match against Viktoria Pilsen. Bormans noted that the club faces immediate challenges, including several injuries and suspensions that will force manager David Hubert to adjust the lineup.

In contrast to Union SG's high ranking, fellow Belgian club Anderlecht is positioned much lower in the standings, with only a 0.6% chance of winning the tournament.
