Union SG transfers Mamadou Barry to Al‑Shabab and Kjell Scherpen to Ipswich

Belgian club Union Saint‑Gilloise, now in its second season under coach David Hubert, is preparing for the departure of two key players. Senegalese defender Mamadou Barry, signed for €2.55 million on a three‑year contract, is the subject of a concrete move to Saudi Pro League side Al‑Shabab. The Saudi club has reportedly pressed for his arrival to partner former Anderlecht defender Wesley Hoedt in central defence, offering a deal that could enable Union to recoup its original investment.

Goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen, who helped Union win the league and cup, has completed a transfer to Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town.
