Union Socialiste des Forces Populaires unveils 2026 election program
Idriss Lachgar, the First Secretary of the Union Socialiste des Forces Populaires (USFP), has unveiled the party's electoral program for the upcoming 2026 legislative elections in Morocco. Centered on the theme of ‘Fair Development,’ the platform is built upon the principles of freedom, equality, social justice, territorial equity, and institutional democracy.
Lachgar emphasized that the party's vision focuses on protecting rights and freedoms, including press freedom, freedom of expression, and the right to peaceful protest. The program advocates for an independent judiciary and the protection of personal data and privacy. A key component of the socialist vision for development involves ensuring that education, healthcare, housing, and social protection are treated as actual rights, aiming to reduce regional disparities so that residence does not dictate access to essential services.
The platform also addresses economic and social stability by seeking to protect the purchasing power of the elderly and retirees, while ensuring the rights of women are upheld beyond mere electoral representation. On an institutional level, the USFP calls for a balance between institutions, the separation of public responsibility from economic interests, and increased transparency in public procurement and asset declarations.
