Unionbirrai opens registrations for Christmas Beers 2026 competition

Unionbirrai, the trade association for small independent Italian craft breweries, has opened applications for the sixth edition of its national Christmas Beers competition. Producers have until December 1 to submit entries to identify the country's best seasonal brews.

These beers are characterized by intense aromas and complex recipes, often utilizing ingredients such as spices, honey, chestnuts, fruit, and cocoa to evoke winter flavors. The competition features two distinct categories: the best Christmas beers and the best pairing with the South Tyrolean buckwheat cake, known as Schwarzplententorte.

The awards ceremony will take place on December 12 at 4:30 p.m. in Piazza Walther, located within the Bolzano Christmas Market.
