Unione degli Universitari elects new national leadership
Sabrina Brizzola has been elected as the national coordinator of the Unione degli Universitari (Udu), Italy’s largest student union, following the organization’s 17th National Congress in Rome. Brizzola, a 24-year-old student from Politecnica, stated that her leadership will focus on the ‘right to study’ amidst rising living costs and economic instability.
Her agenda includes advocating for improved university services, specifically targeting student housing, dining halls, transportation, and access to culture. The new national executive also includes Lucia Ferrante, a representative from Viterbo, marking the first time in over thirty years that a figure from that region has been elected to the Udu national executive.
The new leadership team, which includes Elisa Frigeni, Giulia Papandrea, and Ferrante, aims to address the evolving challenges of the university world, including the psychological and material well-being of students.
