Unione Italiana leaders meet with Italian officials in Trieste
Leaders of the Unione Italiana (UI) met with high-level representatives from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Trieste to discuss the future of relations between Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia.
The meeting included Nicola Verola, Minister Plenipotentiary and Director General for Europe and International Trade Policy, and Daniele Rampazzo, coordinator for minorities and exiles. Key representatives from the Italian National Communities in Slovenia and Croatia, including Marin Corva and Felice Žiža, were also in attendance.
The Unione Italiana presented several specific requests to the Italian government, including the renewal of Law 73/01 due to its imminent expiration and an increase in funding for interventions supporting the Italian minority in Slovenia and Croatia. Additionally, the UI requested a revision of citizenship laws to ensure that members of the Italian National Community in these countries can transmit citizenship to their descendants. The participants also emphasized the importance of reviving the Italy-Croatia-Slovenia trilateral dialogue to strengthen political, economic, and cultural ties.
