Unione Montana del Tronto e Valfluvione releases mushroom foraging guide

The Unione Montana del Tronto e Valfluvione has introduced a new practical manual titled ‘I Funghi – Guida al riconoscimento – Manuale pratico’ to assist residents in preparing for mandatory mushroom foraging certification tests.

Written by mycologists Alberto Mandozzi and Marco Monaldi, with collaboration from agronomist Stefano Citaroni, the guide was developed by the entity's Agriculture and Forestry Service. The manual covers species identification, fundamental mycology, intoxication prevention, and environmental protection regulations.

The initiative follows regional laws in Marche regarding the collection and commercialization of wild mushrooms. The Unione Montana is funding the project and providing the manual free of charge to residents of its municipalities who must pass the legally required test to obtain foraging authorization.
