Unions demand investigation after fatal construction accident in Gibraleón

Labor unions CCOO and UGT are demanding an exhaustive investigation and increased resources following the death of a construction worker in Gibraleón. The worker died this Wednesday while performing maintenance work on a warehouse roof.

This incident marks the sixth workplace fatality in the province of Huelva this year, contributing to a total of 91 deaths in Andalusia. In response, unions held demonstrations in Huelva to protest the current state of occupational safety and to demand greater administrative involvement in accident prevention.

CCOO Huelva has announced it will file a formal complaint with the Labor Inspectorate to determine if there were failures in work organization, risk assessment, or the application of preventive measures. Meanwhile, UGT is calling for more resources for labor inspections, better training, and an update to the Law on the Prevention of Occupational Risks to adapt to modern working conditions.
