UNIQA reports 10.5% growth in first-half 2026 earnings

UNIQA reported a successful first half of 2026, with pre-tax earnings rising 10.5 percent to 327 million euros. The company saw a 12 percent increase in written premiums, reaching 4.9 billion euros. Financial results also saw significant growth, doubling to 176 million euros.

Despite the growth, CEO Andreas Brandstetter expressed caution regarding the second half of the year. This caution stems from expected market volatility and the need to set aside provisions for potential severe weather events in the autumn, as a large portion of weather-related claims historically occurs in the latter half of the year.

While the company is not directly affected by drought damage in Austrian agriculture because it does not offer hail insurance for farms, it does experience indirect impacts through health-related claims due to extreme heat. The company confirmed its full-year 2026 outlook, projecting pre-tax earnings between 540 and 570 million euros.
