Unir veterinary clinic offers free services in Rolim de Moura
The Federal University of Rondônia (Unir) has launched a veterinary clinic in Rolim de Moura, offering free services to the local population. The facility serves a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, cows, horses, and wild birds.
The clinic operates with three primary objectives: providing practical training for veterinary students, managing animal populations to reduce zoonotic diseases, and promoting responsible pet ownership. Professor Mayra Araguaia noted that the unit centralizes academic activities, allowing students to perform exams and surgeries on campus rather than traveling to partner clinics.
Veterinary student Giovana Holanda reported that the clinic averages approximately 25 outpatient visits and 10 surgical procedures per week. This routine allows students to practice the full spectrum of care, from pre-operative preparation to post-operative recovery.
