Unirea Slobozia pushes for Liga 2 success with coach Poenaru’s plan and new Hungarian striker
Coach Ilie Poenaru said Unirea Slobozia is far from the level he expects, pointing to a delayed preseason and the need to adapt players to the club’s philosophy. He highlighted the late start, a shortage of available squad members, and the ongoing process of integrating new signings to reach the target performance before the Liga 2 season.
The club has reinforced the squad with foreign players, including 24‑year‑old Lithuanian midfielder Deimantas Rimpa and 30‑year‑old Hungarian forward Gergely Bobal, who previously played in Hungary’s top tiers, Germany and Portugal. The new striker’s arrival is presented as part of the effort to improve the attacking option ahead of the upcoming campaign.
