Uniswap founder predicts AMMs will enter global finance
Uniswap founder Hayden Adams suggests that automated market makers (AMMs) are poised to enter global finance through the use of correlated tokenized-asset pools. This prediction follows the observation that ten tokenized stock pools against SPY processed $33 million in volume from over 11,000 traders in just 12 days.
Adams argues that tokenization will transform liquidity patterns and capital supply. By using correlated assets in liquidity pools, market-making risks and inventory costs can be reduced. This mechanism was previously successful with stablecoins, where assets like USDC and USDT move closely together, limiting risks for passive liquidity providers.
Since its launch in 2018, the Uniswap protocol has processed more than $4.6 trillion in cumulative volume. Adams noted that decentralized exchanges have grown their share of centralized-exchange spot volume from less than 1% to over 20%, partly because AMMs provide markets for assets that struggle to attract professional trading firms.
