UNITA evaluates electoral strategy for Angola's 2027 elections
The National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) has yet to finalize its strategy for the 2027 general elections, which are scheduled for the second half of August 2027. The party leadership is currently weighing two primary options: forming a formal coalition or establishing a broad front composed of former party members and civil society figures.
There are concerns that delays in deciding on a political-electoral strategy may diminish UNITA's ability to influence the political agenda or drive the momentum for a change in power from the MPLA. While UNITA evaluates the political risks of a formal coalition, newer political parties are actively working to establish their presence in the electoral market.
