United Airlines cancels Rochester to Chicago flights

United Airlines has canceled planned regional connecting flights between Rochester International Airport (RST) in Minnesota and its hub at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

The service, which was intended to include three daily, year-round flights using CRJ-550 jets, had faced multiple delays since its initial announcement. Originally scheduled to begin in April 2026, the start date was pushed to June 1st and then to October 30th before the airline ultimately decided to cancel the route entirely.

Industry reports suggest the cancellation is part of a broader trend, as United is ending 10 regional flights across the country. The decision is reportedly linked to pressures facing the regional airline industry, specifically pilot shortages, rather than issues specific to the Rochester location.
