United Airlines flight reports drone collision near San Diego during descent
A United Airlines Boeing 737, operating a flight into San Diego International Airport, reported a possible collision with a drone at about 3,000 feet while descending toward SAN. The drone was described by some reports as 'red and shiny'.
The pilot indicated there was an impact with the drone but reported no damage to the aircraft and no injuries among passengers or crew. The plane landed safely at San Diego International Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it is investigating the incident. Multiple outlets corroborated the report, and authorities were assessing the drone operator's activity and airspace safety. No injuries were reported and there was no obvious damage to the airliner.
