United Airlines passenger charged after midflight assault and door attempt
A passenger is facing federal charges after an incident on a United Airlines flight traveling from Italy to Newark, New Jersey. Authorities allege that Kristina Kedysheva, 36, became aggressive after crew members refused to serve her additional alcohol.
According to investigators, Kedysheva attempted to open an aircraft door and approached the cockpit multiple times. During a struggle to restrain her, she allegedly bit a flight attendant on the wrist and kicked another crew member in the stomach, causing an injury to the attendant's shoulder.
The aircraft was diverted to Bangor, Maine, for an emergency landing, where Kedysheva was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and FBI agents. She has been charged with assault and interference with a flight crew member.
