United Airlines passenger reports sexual misconduct on flight
A passenger on a United Airlines red-eye flight from San Diego to Newark has criticized the airline's response after witnessing a man masturbating in first class. Genevieve Pascolla reported that the man beside her was watching pornography and making sexual motions under a blanket.
Pascolla stated she felt trapped in her window seat because the man's seat was fully reclined. While the flight crew eventually relocated her by switching her seat with another passenger, she expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of the incident. She noted that the man was allowed to deplane without being confronted by law enforcement.
According to Pascolla, United Airlines customer service only advised her to contact the FBI several days after the flight. The airline offered her a choice between $1,000 in travel credit or 50,000 miles as compensation, which she accepted. United Airlines issued a statement saying they take such issues seriously and have apologized to the customer.
