United Airlines reaches tentative labor deal with flight attendants

United Airlines and the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA) have reached a tentative labor agreement, marking the first pay raises for the airline's cabin crew in approximately six years. If ratified, the deal will include immediate raises, a signing bonus totaling $740 million, and a top pay rate of $100 per hour by the end of the contract. The agreement also addresses compensation for flight disruptions and introduces new restrictions on overnight flight assignments.

In a separate internal development, United Airlines has issued warnings to its workforce of over 28,000 flight attendants regarding the misuse of trip trading and pay protection systems. The carrier characterized certain practices, specifically ‘conflict trading’ during rolling delays, as “impermissible and fraudulent.” The airline stated it may terminate employees who exploit these systems to trigger pay protection without performing actual work.
