United Airlines to launch Milan to Washington direct flights in 2027

United Airlines has announced a new seasonal direct flight service between Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Washington Dulles (IAD), scheduled to begin on May 29, 2027, pending regulatory approval. The service will operate three times per week, making United the only airline to offer a non-stop connection between Milan and the Washington D.C. area.

This expansion marks the return of the route after more than 24 years. The new service is part of a broader strategic plan to strengthen United’s transatlantic network from Italy. By 2027, the airline aims to operate up to 16 daily direct flights from Italy to the United States, connecting eight different Italian cities to various U.S. destinations.

For Milan Malpensa, this addition represents the seventh direct destination served by the airport to the United States. The airline's existing Italian network includes year-round daily flights to Newark/New York and seasonal service to Chicago O’Hare, alongside various connections from other Italian cities such as Rome, Naples, Venice, and Palermo.
